Hi. I'm Joye, and skincare is my obsession.
I've spent more than a decade working inside some of the best beauty brands in the industry, traveling
the world to learn the rituals and ingredients that other cultures have known about for generations. The
whole time, I was also testing things on myself — quietly, obsessively, with the kind of attention most
people only give to their face. My body deserved the same consideration.

Most of what I learned wasn't on the shelf in any store I shopped. So I started making it myself.

Self-Absorbed began with a simple frustration: I couldn't find a body moisturizer that did what I wanted it
to do. The market is saturated with shea butter formulas — heavy, slow to absorb, often masking
ingredient choices behind claims of being "natural." Shea is fine. It just ends up on your sheets more than
your skin. I wanted something different. Something that disappeared into the skin and stayed there.
Something that performed, lasted and felt as considered as the facial routine I'd been building for
decades.

So I build our formulas on a different foundation — one that draws on alternatives like mango butter and
kokum butter, paired with the oils and hydrators I'd been reaching for in my facial routine for years.
Ingredients chosen because they actually do something, not because they sound good in marketing.
Every batch is made in small quantities, with the kind of attention to detail and consistency that scaled
production rarely allows.

The name is on purpose. Self-care has become an industry — a category of bath bombs and bubble
baths and weekend rituals that ask you to schedule your own well-being like a dentist appointment. Being
self-absorbed is the version that actually works. What if we made caring for ourselves an actual part of
the day, not an afterthought? What if the moment you spend on your skin was a moment for you — fully,
intentionally, a little selfishly?

Many of us are givers. This is the practice of receiving — from yourself, first. That's Self-Absorbed. Every
product is made with that practice in mind. Thank you for being here, and it would be my honor to care
for your skin.
